PCA300F and PCA1000F to meet 300W and 1000W power supplies for medical and industrial applications
Today Corso Limited (6905: Tokyo) announced the release of two new high power density power supplies, 300W and 1000W, with extended communication I/O for demanding medical and industrial applications. Adding the 300W PCA300F and 1000W PCA1000F to the existing 600W PCA600F complements and expands the power supply range to cover a wider range of applications. The PCA Series features a built-in extended UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver and Transceiver) interface that supports up to 83 commands to monitor and control the parameters of the entire power supply. The PMBus version will be available in the fourth quarter of 2019. Compliant with the strict medical standard EN/IEC 60601-1, the PCA300F and PCA1000F have an enhanced input/output isolation of 4000VAC and a 2X patient protection device (2XMOPP) rating. The PCA Series offers a universal input voltage of 85 to 264Vac and a DC input of 88 to 370Vdc. The output is flexible for analog or digital control in constant voltage (CV) or constant current (CC) mode. All PCA series power supplies are built with a 1U height enclosure and utilize Corso's high-density integrated package and optimized cooling technology.
The PCA Series has six different output voltages, covering the entire range of applications from 5V to 48V, including 5, 12, 15, 24, 32 and 48V. All output voltages can be adjusted to near zero volts and operate in constant voltage or constant current mode. In addition to the main output, a separate isolation auxiliary voltage of 12V is provided, which can be adjusted in the range of 4.7-12.6V dc by digital control.
Designed for demanding applications, in line with its predecessors PCA600F, PCA300F and PCA1000F, combining constant voltage and constant current simplifies the task of designers developing power systems that require two modes without the need to add external Circuitry, such as a lead-acid battery that requires constant current C, is charged. The charging rate is as high as 90% and the voltage is higher than this.
For added flexibility, the PCA300F and PCA1000F include analog and digital interfaces - analog interfaces including current regulation (ITRM), voltage regulation (VTRM), remote control on/off, voltage sensing, LED alarms, and current monitoring. To extend flexibility, the extended UART digital interface supports 83 monitoring commands. Operational data can be stored and locked in memory, and the recorded error codes can be used to analyze and record the operational time of preventive maintenance.
All parameters can be programmed and monitored via Corso's extended UART control panel GUI, which controls up to 7 units. The extended UART is a built-in standard configuration and the PMBus option will be available in the fourth quarter of 2019.
The PCA Series can be easily connected in series or in parallel to obtain additional power and improve system reliability and availability in parallel redundancy mode n+1.
The PCA300F and PCA1000F are rated for operation from -20 to +70 degrees Celsius. Cooling is achieved by an internal intelligent fan that automatically adjusts the speed to match environmental conditions and work with environmental conditions. The fan can also be manually set to the maximum (fixed) speed via the digital interface.
The PCA300F and PCA1000F include inrush current limiting, overcurrent protection, thermal protection, and output status alarms. For safety reasons, their input/output isolation is 4000Vac (2MOPP) and IN/FG is 2000Vac (1MOPP). The output of the FG and other function pins is isolated to 500Vac.
PCA300F and PCA1000F models have agency certifications UL62368-1, EN62368-1, C-UL (equivalent to CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 62368-1), ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1, EN60601-1 3rd edition, C -UL (equivalent to CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 60601-1) and IEC60601-1-2 4th edition. The conducted noise of PCA300 complies with FCC Part 15, Class B, VCCI-B, CISPR32-B, EN55011-B, EN55032-B. The PCA1000 complies with FCC Part 15 Class A, VCCI-A, CISPR32-A, EN55011-A, EN55032-A. Both models of harmonic attenuators are IEC61000-3-2 (Class A).
All units are 1U high (41mm, 1.61 inches) and include a fan. The PCA300F has a length of 152 mm (5.98 inches) and a width of 89 mm (3.50 inches), while the PCA1000F has a length of 178 mm (7.01 inches) and a width of 102 mm (4.02 inches). The maximum weight of PCA300F is 840g, and the maximum weight of PCA1000F is 1.2kg.
To meet the specific requirements of the application, there are many options to choose from, including coating (C), low leakage current (G), terminal block type (T), PMBus interface (I), reverse exhaust type (F2), Master/slave operation (P3) and modified alarm function (W1).
The PCA300F and PCA1000F are warranted for five years and comply with the European RoHS Directive, REACH Directive, CB Report and CE Mark.
